Date Day :)

Started the day at the gym! Finally! This project at work is just killing my life, sanity, health, etc, but it was great to get to the gym.

Then headed to Broadway to meet Andy for Godspell which was great! Love musicals. Also it was starring Silas from Weeds as well as this phenomenal kid named Telly who was just...an amazing singer. And Asian, which is unusual.

Then drinks at Lillie's, this adorable beautiful bar that's like, a jewelry box inside, filled with antiques and statues and all sorts of amazing things inside.

Then nice walk over to Tulsi for a delicious surprise dinner :) Fancy Indian food, love lamb chops and delicious cocktails!

Then headed downtown to see Mission Impossible which was great, def one of those "must see on a big screen" and def surprised me - I thought it'd be lame but instead it was a great action movie :)

Then headed to Rick's birthday party at the Tippler, this posh underground bar (below Chelsea Market) and hung out with a bunch of Chicago kids drinking boozy slushies - big fan of the orange Fanta based one yum yum.

Then home! Lovely night!

Fat Day Lunch

Left the office for lunch with Jak, Jeremy, and his manager from the Chicago office - went out to wander but it was gross and drizzly and Todd English Ca Va was close and doing a prix fix so...decision made!

Had some mushroom risotto to start, and then a really really heavy plate of duck:

And half a very rich bread pudding:

The meal was good, solid well-done etc. but SO RICH. Ugh. I felt super sick for the rest of the day and just ate baby carrots for dinner. Not thrilled when your food tastes good b/c of excessive cream and butter...just feel gross after.

Amazing Team Dinner!!!

Team dinner night! So exciting to leave the white room before the am :)

Walked to Ai Fiori with the BAs, sat down and ordered a good strong tequila based drink. When everyone else arrived...the food magic began. Thankfully Jak and I spent a lot of time reading reviews and knew we had to eat the squid ink pasta, which was phenomenal. Seriously. So. Good. I just want to eat bowls and bowls of this stuff, it was fantastic:

Then got the duck entree, also delicious but not as special. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera at this meal and the iPhone kind of failed on the duck picture and the restaurant was nice so I didn't want to sit awkwardly and take multiple pictures....

And then dessert, god knows what this is but doesn't it look awesome?

Like, a million textures going on. So, great meal, lots of wine, happy Tuesday :)

YO IN YO OUT

Ah! So, got brunch with Maria, intending on going to this Mexican place for chilaquiles but then remembering the delicious and super highly rated crepes place a few blocks north of my apartment that I had never actually made it to - Yo In Yo Out.

We wandered up there and sat in these cozy comfy armchairs and the food was so good! And the gossip and catch up was so nice :) And I got a super tasty crepe with baked eggs on top with smoked salmon and caviar and yummy salad on the side - perfect brunch, and I'm so excited about it and how close it is to me!

So good :) So pretty! Then wandered back home via all these adorable East Harlem (I KNOW RIGHT??) spots like a place entirely devoted to carrot cakes yum. Dragged myself to the gym later to make up for it haha.

Great Saturday night :)

Started off the night at the Guggenheim for free hours on the last night of the crazy Maurizio Cattelan show, which is one of the best exhibits I've ever seen and one of the few things that really takes advantage of the Gugg's architecture. I had seen it from below, and that was pretty cool, but doing the walk up the spiral and seeing totally different things at every single turn was insane, and completely awesome.

Luckily everyone was able to make it! Then headed to San Matteo, this pizza place I had just heard of, with Phil, Shannon, and Sam and it was sooooo good. Yum I'm not a pizza person but I love a good Italian style pizza :) Got the diavolo which had this amazing spicy sausage on it mmmmm.

Then headed down to Shayna's birthday party, drank a healthy amount of wine, ate chocolate chip cookies, and caught up on the past like, 2 months with Jeremy. Overall lovely Saturday night (despite the gross cold and snow boo real winter).

Korean Casserole

Got pulled onto this RIDICULOUS project at work ah. Left to go get drinks after with a bunch of coworkers, then hurried off to a delicious Korean dinner w new work friend Jakgrid and Lauren and Rich and other friend at this crazy totally hole in the wall place where we ordered a lot of food but the highlight was this casserole dish - spicy soup broth filled with spam and other meat (yes, SPAM) and veggies and basically just everything you'd every find in your pantry. And cheese. And yeah, it sounds kind of disgusting, but was pretty delicious and also pretty perfect for the ridiculous cold weather that hit today =(

Then off to Curtis's going away party, where I started to get sick, then out to Brooklyn for karaoke party, where I had a tequila shot, and then began to lose my voice...

Brooklyn Night!

Started the evening in Williamsburg at Fornino for pizza dinner w Christine, Kyle, Justine & Paul - got one pie covered in mozzarella and basil and one covered in meat and mushrooms:

Pretty yum, the crust was perfect and chewy - only improvement would've been MORE cheese on the margarita! Look at it! Too saucy. Finished out Brooklyn night at Will's concert at some random bar, and then Shannon's birthday at Barcade (too hot but great beer selection!)

Cuban Sandwich Fail

Went in to the office for nothing :) Went to a volunteer thing (starting the year off right!) at the midtown community court, and did mock interviews for currently unemployed, formerly convicted men searching for jobs, it was kind of scary going in but ended up being really great. Then...walked back to work and thought I'd pick up an old favorite at Margon, the Cuban sandwich:

For some reason (maybe walking a little in the cold??), it just wasn't great...the bread was off or something, and I actually didn't finish it. And everyone went out for lunch today! Overall lunch fail :( maybe I'll give them a try again in a few months and hope it was just a bad day hah.

Another day off

Started the day with truffle mac&cheese and yummy sesame broccoli with Christine and Mona, then went to see Young Adult (for free!) which was decent (lack of character development), then back to their place to watch illegally downloaded Cinderella 3 (who knew??) which was actually pretty adorable and had a great message! Look at that :)

Tried to get ramen for dinner, but it was crowded and we were hungry so went to Pure Thai Cook House and definitely ate too much...pad thai, jungle fried rice, and curry pork, so much food, came home super stuffed. Pretty yummy, but I think I prefer Land Thai in the city and Thai Kitchen forever at home.

First meal of the new year :)

Woke up hours earlier than I wanted, headed to the UWS for brunch w Angela and Ting at Recipe...decided I wasn't in the mood for overpriced eggs so got a juicy burger yum yum. And shared a chocolate sea salt caramel etc tart at the end, also yum.

It was also an amazing like, 54 degree day outside, so went for a super long walk down Amsterdam to the 50s, then walked up 5th to check out the sweet windows at Bergdorf's (crazy animals!) and Barneys (Gaga!) and then walked back home to the UES. Penalty was a blister on my little toe from deciding to break in the new leather boots on this crazy walk, but loved the beautiful day!
